About Hope…

Growing up in Southern California, Hope always loved being outdoors. She always felt most at home by, on, and especially IN the water. She swam competitively for over ten years. Her first job was lifeguarding at the local city pool, and quickly completed the American Red Cross training to become a Water Safety Instructor.

As high school came to an end, she craved a change of scenery. While being raised by a family divided - MSU/Michigan, Hope remained neutral and received a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University.

After graduation, she took a management position, which took her to Indianapolis, Orange County, New York City, and London. In 2020, she decided to jump off the hamster wheel and settle in Traverse City to be closer to family.  She’s now able to enjoy the beautiful seasons, lap swimming, stand-up paddle boarding, jogging with her dog Shadow, gardening and Sunday family dinners.

After some introspection, Hope decided to follow her passion and began teaching swim lessons again. In the summer of 2021, she taught at the TCCC, then worked with TC Mermaid through the following year. Also, she worked for Elk Rapids and taught their first lakefront learn-to-swim program in the summer of 2022.

HopeFloats was born out of the incredible need for water safety in the third coast region. Hope is determined to share the joy that water brings.

Hope believes in a holistic approach to teaching – meeting the individual where they are and deeply connecting to their needs. She is a water safety advocate and truly believes that no one is ever too old to learn! Helping people conquer their fears and teaching them life-long and life-saving skills is a privilege. She looks forward to serving her community and making water better for you and your loved ones.
