Swim Classes

  • Parent + Me/Family Classes

    Parent + Me = 1 Adult + 1 Child : 1 Instructor

    Family = up to 2 Adults + 2 Children : 1 Instructor

    6 months - 3 years old

    30 minute lesson

    Learn how to properly hold your child in the water, encouraging the streamline body position and how to gently introduce them to their natural buoyancy, breath control, submersions and propulsion.

    We want them to develop a healthy respect for the water. You will also learn valuable aquatic safety skills for you and your child.

  • Swim Development

    1 Child : 1 Instructor

    2 - 17 years old

    30 minute lesson.

    Water discovery, breath control, submersions, independent back floats, propulsion and breathing are all covered at this level.

    We build on these skills into safe swimming practices like Swim-Float-Swim. We also teach and practice critical safety skills for different aquatic emergency situations.

  • Stroke Development

    1 Child : 1 Instructor

    5 - 17 years old

    30 minute lesson.

    For them to gain muscle memory for their stroke development, it’s best for them to have instruction more than once a week.

    Streamline body position, rhythmic breathing, and side breathing introduced at this level.

    Freestyle, Elementary Backstroke, and Breaststroke or Butterfly are taught along with treading water.

  • Adult

    1 Adult : 1 Instructor

    2 Adults : 1 Instructor

    Semi-privates may be arranged after in water assessment.

    18 years old and up.

    30, 45 or 60 minute lessons.

    No experience necessary. Lesson plans are customized to you - based on your trauma, fears, anxieties, abilities and goals identified during the session.

    Results and pace of progression may vary based on each individual.

  • At-Home Lessons

    We are happy to travel to you for swim lessons, depending on instructor availability.

    We require the pool to be heated to at least 84ºF for safety reasons.

    We teach at private lake-fronts as well; however we only teach in Lake Michigan during the months of August + September.

  • Trainings + Certifications

    Hope Kurtz is a certified training provider and instructor (LGI) for the American Red Cross to teach the following courses:

    Lifeguarding - Pool (Shallow + Deep Water); Waterfront

    CPR/AED - Adult, Child, Infant

    First-Aid, BBP, Anaphylaxis, Epi Auto Injector
